Hosted Email Filtering and Security
Anti-Spam – MailMarshal SPE utilizes the Marshal SpamCensor anti-spam technology engine. SpamCensor is a multi-faceted, heuristic spam filter. The Marshal anti-spam solution incorporates heuristic message analysis, header composition analysis, ESMTP receiver checking and HELO checks, RBL or Real-time Blackhole List referencing and many other spam identification technologies. The end result is a 99.5% spam detection rate with near zero false positives. MailMarshal SPE spam filtering is extremely fast and efficient. Anti-spam updates are maintained and automatically distributed by Marshal. You can offer customers a range of spam handling options, from blocking spam outright to tagging subject lines and delivering the messages.
Anti-Virus – MailMarshal SPE features multiple anti-virus technologies including the ability to integrate with one or more major anti-virus vendors such as McAfee, Sophos, Norman and Symantec. MailMarshal SPE also features Zero-Day alerts against virus outbreaks and can be configured to automatically block specified attachment types or attachments exhibiting potentially harmful code commands. MailMarshal SPE will identify and block 100% of known virus infected messages in real-time and at high speed. Messages can be quarantined and individual users notified of the reason why the message was blocked and what options are available to them. Alternatively, the sender of the message can be notified that the message was suspected of containing a virus and blocked.
DoS– Denial of Service attacks are more commonly targeted at large organizations, but hackers are increasingly turning to softer targets. MailMarshal SPE can detect unusual email traffic behavior such as multiple, rapid connection attempts from a single IP address. MailMarshal SPE can escalate preventative measures against suspected DoS attacks, reducing response times to offending IP addresses. MailMarshal SPE will automatically resume normal services to the IP address after a set time.
Policy Enforcement and Compliance
Bandwidth Preservation – Reject messages that exceed a size limit or messages containing oversize attachments. This saves the customer bandwidth and helps preserve their connection speed. You can also manage bandwidth by delaying delivery of non-urgent, oversized, outgoing messages to off-peak times. This can be applied to smaller bulk messages that are individually an appropriate size but collectively consume large amounts of bandwidth.
Confidentiality Protection – Identify incoming or outgoing email containing sensitive or confidential information. MailMarshal’s TextCensor technology can easily detect keywords and phrases relating to confidential information. These words can be part of the message header, subject line, message body or embedded inside of attachments and archive files. Also part of providing confidentiality protection is MailMarshal’s ability to manage email attachments. You can block or restrict access to specific file types. Restrictions or permissions can be applied to selected email users. The customer can also be granted administrative privileges to release messages or change which user groups can have access to restricted file types.
Standards & Conduct Enforcement – Manage the use of profanity and offensive language for customers’ email and specified users. Block messages from particular users that contain expletives or words of a racist or sexist nature. These words can be part of the email body or actually embedded within attachments such as PowerPoint presentations or Word documents. You can also manage emails containing offensive jokes (incoming or outgoing) or CV’s being emailed out of the company from non-HR employees. A whole assortment of standard’s related policies can be catered for, depending on your customers' requirements.
Secure Communication Link – Provide customers a secure communication link between their network and your hosted service via TLS. This establishes a secure tunnel for emails between you and the customer. You can also offer your customers TLS secure communication channels with their business partners who are also TLS enabled. You are able to host and manage secure, compliant links between your customer and their partners.
User Group Management – Automatically import user group information from the customer’s Active Directory or LDAP server. Customers can modify how rules apply by editing directory membership on their own servers.
Advanced Rule Setup – Offer technically minded customers the ability to construct their own policies using MailMarshal rule conditions and actions. Administrative reports warn you about customer rules that could have excessive processing requirements.
