In January 2006 the Victoria Theatre Trust sent a registration proposal to Historic Places Trust (HPT). Registration with HPT will give Victoria Theatre added historic status and
protection.

A public notice was printed in the New Zealand Herald on March 21 2007. A copy can be read here.
